RV parks for Yellowstone

Had a look at Grizzly rates. WOW! I'll take dry camping in the trees thankyou for 1/3 the price. Lots of genny gas can be bought for the difference.

Here's the link to Grizzly RV Park. 4 blocks to the west gate. Entering the park in the morning eliminates long lines, and its a beautiful drive to the grand loop. It took me all morning to get to the loop one spring day. An eagle's nest with chicks, a fox and her kits, and a herd of Bison crossing the road with their babies. Got some great pics.
Be sure to see the Grizzly & Wolf discovery Center. Half way between the CG and the west gate. The closest you'll likely get to either animal, or want to.

Near the south entrance the best campgrounds are Fishing Bridge for full hookups or Madison or Bridge Bay.

Definitely spend some time in Teton Nat'l Park just south of Yellowstone and for that park your choices are Colter Bay RV (concessionier, full hookups) and right next door is Colter Bay campground (no hookups - 300 wooded sites) and a little further south toward the town of Jackson is Gros Ventre campground (no hookups - 300 sites) in the park.

Trying to cover both of the above parks from one campground will be a LOT of unnecessary driving and very long days. It's more pleasant to stay in each park.

Inside the park the two choices nearest the South entrance are Bridge Bay and Grant Village. Both will handle the size of your rig. Don't even try to get into Lewis Lake campground.

We are staying at the west entrance KOA, seems to be plenty spacious with full hookup. We are pulling a 44 foot toy hauler so we need the room.

We've stayed at Fishing Bridge. Very cramped, very very cramped. We also stayed in Bridge Bay which is not far from Fishing Bridge. That's where we will always now go. No hook ups but a really great central location with lots of wildlife.

In the Mt Rushmore area, stay at Rafter J RV park. Great place with lots of open space and your neighbor is a nice distance away. Also the road to Mt Rushmore is just across the highway so less than 3 miles. Crazy Horse is just 6 miles down the road. Take the 1890's train from Hill City, 3 miles away, to Keystone. Its a blast. Train lets you off right in the town of Keystone, just walk across the street and your there. Be sure to do the 16 mile drive with 30 some curves, 3 cross over bridges and much more.

Be sure to stop at the Little Big Horn Battleground. Very educational.

Interested to see the replies you get. I am visiting Mt Rushmore for July 4th week and then spending 2-3 days in Yellowstone on our way home to Alberta. With the travel trailer, I do not have a generator. I am looking for a CG with power. I have only found Fishing Bridge, which has full hook ups but does't allow campfires... This somewhat meets my needs as I will be entering from the East side of the park.

We were there last year and stayed at Colter Bay Village. In Grand Teton National park. Great locaction for visiting both parks. Amazing senery and very well stocked store. Lots to see in the area. We also stayed in West Yellowstone while there.
