RV parks in Yellowstone & Tetons 2016

Our family will be in Yellowstone and Tetons for 4 days each in early July 2016. We have a 35' class A. I want to find one RV park in Yellowstone and one in Tetons to do day trips from. Also want to have access to rental car facilities in each local. Not real concerned with the nightly rates just want full hookup and nice scenery. Any ideas out there from those with personal experience? Thanks in advance.
  • You're not going to be spending a lot of time at your campsite anyway with only 4 days to see the park. You'll get your awesome scenery as you tour around. Fishing Bridge would be your only option in the park that has electric and you do have lots of pine trees to view. :) Here are some photos. I don't think it's bad at all. I've seen much worse in private RV parks on just a gravel lot - no trees.

  • I just booked 4 nights at Colter Bay. What a beautiful location! In regards to Yellowstone, I think it would be worthwhile for us to consider just electric hook up. Is there a more scenic location in Yellowstone people would recommend to camp? We will just pick up the rental car on the way to the park in Yellowstone and drop of in Jackson before we leave for home.

Rental Cars are available in West Yellowstone. A number of private campgrounds in and near West Yellowstone with Grizzly RV Park being the closest to the Park entrance.

For Grand Teton, Rental cars are available at the Jackson Hole airport and also in the town of Jackson. Colter Bay RV Park inside Grand Teton has FHU. Good views from the adjacent Colter Bay Marina.

Stayed in both these campgrounds. Colter Bay is one of our favourites. Amazing scenery!!
  • We stay at Buffalo crossing in West Yellowstone.
Not aware of any other places to get rental cars except West Yellowstone.
  • Fishing Bridge is the only full hook-up RV park inside Yellowstone. Not the best of RV parks but it is convenient for touring Yellowstone. I know of no rental car service inside YNP.I believe your best option would be Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT. Beautiful park located at the NW entrance to YNP and the rental car agency will come to you.

The only full hook up park in the Tetons I know of is Colter Bay. Make sure you get the RV park and not the National Park Campground. They are located next to each other. There are a couple of private parks in the area, but I do not think they will serve you well. I believe the closest rental car agency would be Jackson Airport about 30-40 miles south of Colter Bay.

Enjoy your trip. It’s a spectacular area.
  • Staying in West Yellowstone will mean a lot of driving everyday. Fishing Bridge inside of the park has FHUs -- but it is a bit tight. Is dry camping out of the question?

In GTNP, Colter Bay is a nice play to stay.
