One thing I will add is that if you are retired military, there are a number of possibilities for you in the Keys, including Key West. You would not need reservations, and the sites are very reasonable. The military bases all over the USA have family camps that an active duty military person, or a retired military person can use. Sadly, being a veteran won't gain access. Just wanted to mention this in case there are folks out there that qualify. I am retired military, and just started using the camping benefits in the last several years because I did not know about it. Happy travels.
