RV Travel Log

What are you using for a RV travel log to keep track of expenses, campgrounds, fuel, etc.? Nice to keep a record of some kind to review different trips. I have always written everything down in a notebook in the past.
  • Excel worksheet - all our trip expenses for the last 10 years. Where we camped, ate, stopped for gas, mileage when we left and when we got back if it was a long trip, Gallons of gas, price per gal and all for the last 5 years or so. We know where our money goes and it is easy to check the credit card bill. Can tell how many days away, miles driven per year... all on one place.

Another vote for excel. Easy to modify as needed.

We have a record of every day since mid 2007. Just email the file to yourself every so often and no need to worry about termites eating your log.

Plus it calculates MPG, engine hours, average nightly price, etc... if you desire.

That's all we use also. However, the only things we keep a log of is all of the campgrounds we have stayed at along with specific site numbers and area activities for future reference for ourselves or people who inquire about them. Our notebook is partitioned off for each state and Canada.

We do not keep a travel diary and find no need to track anything else. Really helps reduce unnecessary clutter.
  • Google Drive spreadsheet so that it is accessible from any device that I have. I have one per year and I keep track of dates, campground, site #, site notes, campground notes, who went, where the camper was before and after, how many miles towing to and from, and total cost.

I then automatically calculate the # of nights camped, # of nights planned, total cost, cost per night, etc.
  • For previous posts on this subject search this Forum for `diary' or `journal' or `log book'. We use a Boaters Diary and modify the entries for our camping.
  • Excel spreadsheet. It can do almost anything. And it's easy and intuitive.

For Gas only I use Fuel Buddy App on my phone. It is a great app.
