S.W. Florida filling up.

Friend off mine just called Upriver RV Resort in North Ft. Myers for a months stay in Feb 2017. All filled up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like SW Florida will be swamped again. I hope the people like brown ocean water down there. Seems the Corp of Engineers likes to dump swamp water from Lake Okeechobee into Ft. Myers area. Last winter the water was brown from Ft. Myers beach all the way past Port Charlotte. Even the Spring breakers weren't going in. What a mess that was.....

Apparently your "friend" doesn't mind the brown ocean water. What do you propose the C.O.E. to do with all the excess swamp water. Discolored swamp water is not necessarily a pollution hazard. I'm for anything that will keep the Spring breakers away! :@
  • We took 2 weeks to get to RGV this year but we poked around looking at things we usually blow by.

3 months in RGV followed by 1 month in Hill Country worked great for us. We're going to do that again.

Rio Grande Valley, friendly folks and very low cost of living, surprising how many East Coaster's we have here.

I am doing my research .. to go there for the winter 2016-17...
1,700 miles each way... 4 days? maybe 5.

    4 month or 5 ??.

my surprise .. limited number of public showers/rest rooms in some of these Parks/Resorts .

Why do you need public showers when sites are full hookups?

  • We snowbird it every year with previous years having more availability, but now the "boomers" retiring and they too are going to warm areas. Estimates were an extra 300,000 in southern Florida this last year and at least the same next year. Make your plans now!
