Good luck, I tried to get a reservation at Riley Creek, for the end of July, the second I clicked the "Book" button, all sites popped up "not available", I did get one of the last few sites available at Farragut SP.
Another good option with hookups that I forgot to mention is Riley Creek Campground. It is located about 14 miles west of Sandpoint on the Pend Oreille River. The river there is a slack-water extension of the lake so boating into town is an option. - Al_FrescoExplorerAnother good option with hookups that I forgot to mention is Riley Creek Campground. Beyond Hope is a short drive from Sandpoint and the boat trip from Hope to Sandpoint is easy and scenic. Farragut is a great place also. Great museum, x naval base! - FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerWe stayed at the COE campground several years ago and would go back in a heart beat.. With quick access to the water to launch our seadoo and kayaks from within..
- Y-GuyModeratorI'll add to Al Fresco's comment. If you want a more rustic/scenic campground that looks over the water the Sam Owen is your best choice, though it is a bit out of the way. Farragut is a great park, but the sites do not see much of the lake. On a windy day that can be a good thing, but I enjoy views of the lake.
Farragut State Park
Sam Owen Campground - Al_FrescoExplorerIf you are looking for a park with electric and water hookups, I highly recommend Farragut State Park. It is located approx. 30 miles south of Sandpoint, but you can actually boat into town on Lake Pend Oreille. If you do not need hookups, I recommend Sam Owen Campground located on the north end of the lake.
- downtheroadExplorerWe stayed here a couple of years ago...we liked it. Nice campground with a marina, beach and swimming area. I remember lots of deer wandering around between sites and all over the grounds.
Have a good trip. It's beautiful country.
