Scenic Route from NYC to Indian Lake, NY to Saranac Lake NY
Not towing anything just want a leisurely road trip with a stop at a Walmart's or similar for provisions. TIA!

I'd pick up NY 28 as far south as possible; a pretty road through the Catskills as well as in the Adirondacks. Lots of small towns, lots of twists & turns, and mostly 2 lane. You wouldn't want to pull a large trailer, but a fun drive. If you need a walmart, check the larger cities such as Oneonta. As mbopp says, you won't find any in the Adirondacks...
