SC/GA Coast at the end of August?

I guess it really doesnt matter where you want to go. there is always something bad that can happen to you at any given time...

Its alot like the story at one campground of us being chased down the big hill by a bear. I was ahead of the wife by a few steps and we finally made it to a safe zone at the bottom of the hill. The wife commented why wasn't you running faster like I know you can. Of coure my comment back was I only needed to run just a tad faster than you.

If we had to worry about all the bad things that can happen to you then we probably would not ever go anywhere...

If I wanted to go there, I wouldn't worry about storms that might never come.
There are many RV parks that will give refunds if you give them advance notice of cancelling.

The SC state parks are booked by Reserve America, and if you book with them and cancel all you lose about $18.

I say book now and don't worry about it

As you know, hurricanes can happen just about nay time. While August may historically be a hot time for it, I wouldn't let it deter me making plans to go. If you are there or about to go and don't feel safe, then don't go or go home.

I have spent many Augusts on the SC coast. We moved it up a couple of weeks this year. We have booked July 18-26 at Hunting Island. Can't wait to go.

Having lived on the Carolina coast, I would not worry about hurricanes, frequency is low even for the "hot" times of year. There is enough notice on hurricanes that you can change plans. If worried about cost of not going, you might consider trip insurance, but I don't know that you'll find it for something as low cost as a RV park booking.

Thanks everyone for the votes of confidence. I just booked four nights each at Jekyll Island Campground and James Island County Park in Charleston.

I live in SC and have no worries. No different than booking a spot in Pensacola in March and a bunch of storms come through.

I've lived on a beach in NC hurricane alley for 30 years. I get worried when a named storm is 5-7 days away and headed my way. Go ahead, book and enjoy!!

Never a problem: we use our weather apps to track hurricanes and other foul weather. If one is coming we break camp and head inland, making sure we get out ahead of any evacuation. Only had to do it once in almost 50 years of camping.
