Wow, it's hard to know where to begin listing favorite sights and campgrounds for such an enormous territory.
Four months doesn't really give you time to linger, so sounds like you need a few highlights in each of the states mentioned.
For example, Maine and Canada's Maritime provinces could fill a summer, but highlights for me were coastal lighthouses, Acadia National Park, Campbello Island, and Cape Breton Island with the Cabot Trail and the Fortress of Louisbourg.
You mentioned Utah...maybe you have already done this on your southern route, but if not, you coud at least get an overview of the Four Corners region and National Parks of the Southwest - Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Arches, Mesa Verde, and more.
