The west side of the Loop road is 72 miles long. The east side is 68 miles long. I think you're going to want to drive to the features you want to see and then explore. Above all, remember that you aren't in a petting zoo. The animals are wild.
One of the Stupid questions the Rangers get, "where can I take my kids to pet the bears", REALLY? This isn't a Zoo folks. It's YELLOWSTONE, not JELLYSTONE. :S Many (not all)of the animals WILL kill you, a few will even eat you.
