We do it all the time on our way down to Florida. Savannah is GORGEOUS in February. I would suggest you bring a light and medium jacket though, because it can get chilly at night sometimes. Last year we were a little chilly and bundled up but it was still a little brisk. Usually we are comfortable with a lighter jacket though.
During the day it is usually quite comfortable with jeans and a t-shirt. If you are there and have never been, go to the Breakfast Club on Tybee Island one morning. It is an AMAZING breakfast spot a block from the beach. If you like pizza, Vinnie Van Go-Go's is a popular spot. They are cash only and right in the middle of downtown Savannah.
My suggestion is to try to bring some bikes with you. The city is gorgeous and there is a LOT to see.
