We live in the area. Check out Townsend, TN in RVparkreviews.com for campground suggestions. You will find facilities and you are at the doorstep of Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
I would skip the pool and swim at the wye in the park where two creeks meet. Kids will have a blast! There are also tube rental places in town where you can tube the Little River all day for $10 each.
Townsend will keep you out of the traffic and congestion in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. If you want to head to attractions there, like Dollywood, you are about 35 minutes away.
Tire the kids (and yourself) out by hiking on one of the trails in the park. It is the best way to experience the area.
