Snowbird rates

We haven't snowbird end yet, but hope to soon. What are some typical rates for camping? I'm assuming that if you sign up to stay for a month or two the rates are more reasonable. Are some parts of the country less expensive than others? Are there any trends that some of you veterans know about, that the rest of us might not be aware of yet?

  • I picked up a rental advert just yesterday for an RV site with an "executive suite" at The Great Outdoors (Titusville, FL). The owner wanted $1300/month + tax (11%) for the first month and then it went down $100 per month for each subsequent month. At 6 months or more it was $900/month but apparently if you stay there more than 6 months then the 11% tourist tax doesn't apply. Electric, TV and wi-fi additional.

Not sure if those rates would be considered typical, but TGO is a very nice resort and that site was more than just a parking pad.
  • I can help you with Florida, as a state.

Florida is the 22nd largest state. It a wide variety of locations to explore.

Monthly campground rates vary from about $350.00 per month to over $2,500.00 depending on location and amenities.

In general, the further south and the closer to either ocean (Atlantic or Gulf) you get, the more expensive the site rental.

I-4 which runs basically east-west across the state is generally accepted as the "frost line" south of that, frost is a rear occurrence in winter.

Florida just had the highest visitation rate in years. It was very busy this winter, so make you reservations early.

Hope this helps in your search.
  • Huge difference in cost east coast to west coast. Where are you planning on landing?
