Snowbirding and beach or pier fishing.

Hoping to get somewhere warmer for a couple of months next winter now that I am retired. Am I asking too much for some sun, warmer than here (Southern Ontario)and the chance to catch something from the beach or a pier? Not fussed where we go, just warmer and more fish than here. Open to suggestions. Thanks.
  • I don't know if this is allowed to ask another question on this thread. What
dose it take to get a license to fish in Fl. and what is the cost ? Thanks
  • Florida panhandle if you want to fish in a sweatshirt. South of Sarasota if you would rather fish in shorts and a T-shirt.

Plenty of beaches, bridges, piers to fish from around Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach, Pine Island, and Sanibel Island. I generally like to fish where I am not standing next to someone and where I don't have to pay to park.
  • While northern Fla is a little cooler than southern Fla, you can find both the Atlantic Ocean on the front of North Beach Camp Resort in St. Augustine and the Intracoastal Waterway (with pier) on the back end. Many snowbirds (and locals) fish on both. Camp on!
  • Hunting Island State Park, near Beaufort, SC. Great beaches where you can of course fish. Also has a very nice pier for fishing.
  • The Rockport area has numerous places to fish. Port A has a big jetty and the beach. Sheepshead are good right now from the piers and the jetty. And they are delicious.
  • Along the Gulf coast from Galveston, TX down to South Padre Island, TX. I would cruise the whole thing and try not to settle into any one place for any length of time. Turn around and then hit your favorite spots.

If you want to head over to Florida, Flagler has a nice fishing pier with a beach town feeling.
  • The Florida Keys offer the best salt water fishing and the warmest winter climate on the east coast.
Just about all the bridges between each key have walkways separate from the road way just for fishing with free parking on each end of the bridge.
You should make your reservations now and it won't be cheap
