Snowbirding without an RV

Hello all. I've been lurking for a while, but I think this is my first post.

This may be an odd question, but I'll ask it anyway :-)

I found this forum while searching for a forum about snowbirding for not-quite-retired people who don't RV, but instead either own two places (I wish!) or do a seasonal rental for a few months every winter.

Does anybody happen to know of such a forum?

We almost bit the RV bullet last summer, but backed out at the last minute. We have vacated in a small (18') travel trailer many times in the past, but realistically any RV that is big enough to spend several months in (with both of us still working via the internet) is likely to be too big for me to want to deal with (driving it, maintaining it, storing it, etc.).

Thanks ... Mike

A large number of RVers end up with a park model, mobile home or house after several years of RV snowbirding. When you consider the cost of a Rv it can often be more room for less money.

    True.
Since we only head south in the January to March timeframe now, we've been renting a villa (similar to a park model) in the campground where we have always stayed. The cost for us is only about $250 more to rent but we don't have to dig the camper out of the snow and tow from Montreal in the winter. A lot less headaches and much easier travel logistics.

It doesn't sound like you necessarily want a RV to rent but just something for a few months.

Try Vacation Rentals by Owner: https://www.vrbo.com/

We've had good luck with rentals. You can pick any city you want.

We use VRBO in Mexico and the U.S. I just went to check the site for McAllen and was surprised to see hotels offering rooms on the website. I thought it was only for private rentals. :h
