I love reading these as it highlights the very best thing about all of us: our differences.
We used to save weeks of vac. time to saddle up our 5'er and head down to Florida for 6 weeks each winter and did that about 4 years while still working but facing retirement we wanted to see new vistas while wintering so headed west and spent winters in places like Rio Grande Valley of Tx, San Diego Ca., and all over Arizona after a few years of that, finally settling on Yuma for a stretch of six winters in a row at Del Pueblo Rv Resort until an aging MIL with a hip replacement dictated we spend a winter where a direct flight home to Ontario, Canada would be readily available and that was an epiphany for us. We fell in love wth the state all over again.
We liked it so much that winter and the prices had dropped due to the crash so we ended up buying a home there in Dec. 2010. We have it all; the beaches the golf courses, seafood galore, theater, golf courses, sports events, dinner cruises, golf courses, group activities, hiking and bicycling trails up the ying-yang natural scenery of the green kind and oh yeah, LUSH cheap golf courses.
We now have a car registered and insured in Florida that stays there and fly into Tampa International or Orlando and are sitting in our lanai with a cocktail and friends with an hour of getting off the plane. Love'n it and will continue to love it for as long as our health will allow.
To each his own and as long as you are enjoying yourselves, it matters little whether you're in Oxnard or Ottawa.
