...Yes it cost twice as much or more for south Fla so take a look at Ocala with one day where the high will not be above 60 plus it does not cost much more than the RGV with 13 days below 60 at Mission.
When Florida was cheap no body wanted to go to Ocala. Now that it's costly, Ocala is really coming onto it's own. If you're a horse person, like rolling hills with white fences, friendly people, it's a nice place to be. I agree, much nicer then Mission which you're comparing it with, plus the real estate is cheaper if you know where to look.

It's all about supply and demand I guess. If you place a high priority on the weather (which most do) then you're going to have to pay for that demand. For many of us the weather is just one part of the overall picture. A major part granted, but not the only part. For me, I would go crazy in WPB. Too many people, too many high rises, too much big city type crime on the news, and too much attitude from some of the locals. Ocala is nice, but too far from salt water even with their lesser price. IMO
Good thing we're all different, otherwise it would be a very small world from us all fighting over the same chunk of land. I hear Portugal is coming on as a place to be for snowbirds. :@
Trick is to travel around and not get set in your ways right out of the snowbird gate, because the grass just could be greener on the other side of the fence regardless what the internet is saying.
