I've watched these post for a few years, and they boil down to the same thing every year.
Yes, everyone knows south Florida is the warmest place in the country in winter accessible with an RV. And it costs 2 to 3 times as much as the Gulf Coast and twice as much as Arizona.
Yes, the RGV and the Gulf Coast from Brownsville to Crystal River has a bit of cool weather each winter. Occasionally the temps actually get down to freezing. It's an offset between cost and a little less perfect weather.
Yes, Arizona does have warmer temps than Texas much of the winter, and southern Arizona does have some periods of winter where it is cooler than the RGV.
Yes, southern California has the very best year round weather, but it is also cool in winter, and sometime summer if you are near the coast. I used to need a sweater in San Diego after the sun went down in July if we had winds coming in off the ocean.
So why on earth are folks surprised by weather each winter?
I grew up on the Arkansas/ Louisiana border. I lived most of the last 30 years near Dallas.
Weather south of San Antonio is always better than those locations. True its not as good as the nine years I spent living on tropical islands courtesy of the US Navy (Guam, Philippines, Antigua, Puerto Rico). But I can tow my rig south, and I never have to get out the heavy coats I need when Dallas or Arkansas get socked by four or six inches of solid ice.
What much of the RGV and Texas Gulf do have is an active social calendar for 'winter Texans' (which includes a lot of folks who normally live farther north in Texas - we know the RGV is better than home). I didn't seen anything like that in the Fort Lauderdale area, at least not as much as the RGV.
Perhaps because the winter Texans RV crowd is the largest and main tourist activity in the RGV, Corpus, Rockport, etc. In south Florida and the Keys, we have to 'compete' with thousands of fly-in/ drive-in tourists and are outnumbered 10 to 1.
Maybe those unhappy about RGV weather should consider going south where it is cheaper next year - Cancun ?
