Maybe those unhappy about RGV weather should consider going south where it is cheaper next year - Cancun ?
My girlfriend and I were talking just this morning how nice the weather is in Puerto Vallarta. Sorry if some are bored by all this weather talk, but thirty degrees below normal is noteworthy in any part of the country. On the other hand, today everyone is enjoying the weather before the bottom drops out again tomorrow.
For me it's more then just "thirty degrees below normal." We first came to the Valley based on this forums glowing reports about the weather and how cheap it was five years ago. Four winters later I understand why the price is cheap. It's because you can not get seven days of nice weather in a row during mid December to mid February (what I call the Texas winter.) This came to my attention when family and friends would fly down for a well deserved week's vacation from their northern jobs. I would then watch them put up with crappy weather for half (or more) of their vacation. For just a little bit more they could have vacation in a much nicer place and really unwound.
So if you do come down in an RV, come down for the hospitality, good neighbors, the vastness of Texas and the places you can RV to during the winter, good fishing BBQ and Lone Star/Shiner beer, plus of course, the lower prices.
But don't RV here thinking you'll be one of those on this forum that will thumb their noses at AZ and FL because Texas has the same weather at only half the price. That part ain't true.
Heck it took me a year to figure out that most that claim great weather in the Valley don't even have a RV they live in, and if they do, they have supporting structures that will assist during the bad weather times. This is RV.Net based on RV'ing, but the Snow bird forum is open to all, even if you live in a condo/townhouse/casita/or hotel room.
I'm just very happy that this thread has the "(So Far)" in the title. As they say truth in advertising. Hopefully in another week or so we will go back to the "South-TX Weather Has Been Wonderful" title part (and yes it has been.) Then I guess we'll start seeing posters once again thumbing their noses at AZ and FL and how Texas has the same nice weather at half the price on this forum.
