Stillwandering, I'm glad it all worked out for your trip down to the RGV.
Harlingen is a great place to land also, that was a good call on your part.
While down here, don't forget to try the Texas Wild Gulf Shrimp. You'll never go back to farm raised shrimp after that. Good little 40 mile trip for you is South Padre Island for the shrimp. Dirty Al's seems to be a favorite with visitors.
Don't know if you have a route back yet, but take a look at going up along the Gulf to Galveston, then take the free (huge) ferry over to the Bolivar peninsula, then up the Natchez Trace. Now that's what RV snowbirding is all about :)
