Southern California - First trip New Fifth Wheel

Hello RV.net,

Wifey and I just purchased a new Keystone Cougar 25RES 5th wheel.

We are looking for a first destination for a 4 day "get to know the rig" trip. We live in Southern California, Temecula. We would like to go somewhere that is only a few hours a way.

We are looking to the community for a suggestions of a nice place with full hookups to check out the rig, and also enjoy our first trip. We are willing to pay a little more for this first trip, as it is our maiden voyage.

We have 50 amps, but also a dog bone, 50 to 30amp.

Trailer is 30 feet.

So where should we go that will start us off on a love of RVing?

Thanks

  • Do you want desert? forest? a resort where you go there and do everything there? a place for a base to explore from?

Prado Regional Park is pretty. I live near it. Not sure I recommend it, because it is noisy there - traffic noise, construction noise, and two nearby shooting ranges.

Maybe Rancho Jurupa Park would suit you.

How about Lake Skinner near you? We've been there in the past and enjoyed our stay. The fees were also reasonable.

If you want to travel further, go near the coast. We also like going to Ramona Oaks RV Park near Ramona.
