Los Angeles area is Not RV friendly. As noted, Dockweiler is not in the best location, and some people feel less than safe in the community. I won't camp there. Heading South your first campground is around Huntington Beach, heading North Pismo for hookups. There are a few campgrounds "close to the beach", Malabu is on the hills on the wrong side of the freeway.
