Spring Break Suggestions

Hello! I have a 1 year old and a 5 year old and am looking for suggestions on where to go for Spring Break! Preferable somewhere warm on the East Coast or South East! Any help would be great!!

  • The spring break rowdies will be on the Atlantic Coast, along I-95. You may not want to expose your children to that much bare skin. Consider I-75 along the Gulf coast, south of Tampa. Same weather, and the Gulf isn't nearly as "angry" as the Atlantic, wave wise.
  • For the second year in a row we will be going to Ft. Desoto County Park in St. Petersburg. Camp right on the water and the beaches are amazing!! My 4 yr old loved it. The water temp was fine in April last year.
  • We're going to Tomoka State Park near Ormond Beach. 5 degrees or so warmer for an average high than the Panhandle.
  • If you want to avoid rowdy and drunken Spring Break crowds, I recommend opting for a state park. Definitely call ahead to see what the rowdy factor is like too.

Gulf State Park in AL was recommended and can be interesting.

Skidaway Island State Park near Savannah, GA has a Toddler Time where toddlers are introduced to turtles and other harmless creatures. Call the number at the link above to see if Toddler Time will be available during your break.
  • I guess I don't care about swimming, we're from Southern WI, so anything that is warmer then here, we're good with! Just looking for a place that the family will have fun at!
  • No where except the Keys or very south Florida will be warm enough to swim. If you don't care about swimming, Destin, Sanibel, Orlando, Lion Country Safari KOA, St. Augustine.
  • This will be our second year at Gulf State park in Gulf Shores Alabama. Last year it was sunny and low 70's when we were there (3rd week in March). It's green and there are flowers blooming which is what these winter-weary Iowans are looking for. The pool at the park isn't open yet but there are lots of activities to keep you busy. Love the bike trails.

We have also camped at Topsail in Destin, Florida that same time of year with about the same kind of weather. Topsail's pool is open but no one swam while we were there. It's not heated.

Some years it's warm enough to swim in the ocean and some years we just wade.
  • If you want a guarantee of warm weather, I would recommend MEXICO!!

We have done Gulf Shores, AL a couple of times, but that is iffy on the weather. It's been 80 and it's been 40.

Miami and the Keys, you are pretty much guaranteed that it'll be warm.
