Springtime In The Rockies
Well, this was going to be THE weekend...break out the trailer after dewinterizing, hitch up and head on up to good ole' Rocky Mountain National Park...and specifically Moraine Park. First boondock trip of the season, going up on a Sunday night, would have the campground practically all to myself. What could possibly go wrong with this plan???
S - N - O - W ! ! ! ! And not just a little. Forecast for Saturday night and into Sunday and all day Sunday and into Sunday night and maybe holding over to Monday -- SNOW! Right now, calling for 4-9 inches here in the flats, 9-12 in the foothills up to 9000 feet and (drum roll please) 12-24 inches above 9000 feet! Looks to be more of a northerly event for Colorado, hitting the northern mountains and southern Wyoming the hardest. Should start off as rain tomorrow afternoon/evening and turn to snow later in the evening. Timing is everything, as to how much we could get. If it gets cold enough early enough, this could be a biggie.
Sooo....needless to say...the trip ain't happening! Guess I'll just wait until NEXT weekend, when the extended forecast says we will be back in the 80s on next Sunday ! !
