Some folks will chime in here for that area that know it better than me. But, don't miss Crooked River State Park just off I-95 at Kingsland, GA right on the Georgia / Florida border about sixty miles north of St Augustine - a nice stop over, some great hikes along the river, and then a short drive down the coast the St Aug. St Mary's historic town is worth a day too, right near Crooked River.
