- jffhlbrt1ExplorerI agree with the Fort Clinch suggestion!! There are some shady and sunny sites depending on your preference. I would suggest you check out the state's park list and try out the parks on your own. The parks I like you may not find as enjoyable.

Crooked River State Park - right on the river above St Mary's and Kings Bay - very nice - although not 'modern' it has hook-ups .... some great hikes in thru the woods and along the river as well.
Only a couple miles off I-95just above Florida Georgia border -
X2 on Crooked River, we enjoyed the three nights we stayed there. I guess I'm in the minority, I hated Skidaway Island and will never go back. It's almost surrounded by a subdivision and unless you go downtown, the area is rough. - monkey44Nomad IICrooked River State Park - right on the river above St Mary's and Kings Bay - very nice - although not 'modern' it has hook-ups .... some great hikes in thru the woods and along the river as well.

- FullCircleHookExplorerAgree with everyone...Skidaway or Fort Clinch are both awesome. Little Talbot Island is also cool if you like more rustic style campgrounds, but it will be a little more difficult to get in with a 30 footer.
- craigtExplorerFort Clinch is fantastic; river, beach, pier; but as stated you need to make your reservations well in advance.
Some stay weekdays if you can make it fit your schedule. - tropicdadExplorerAnastasia SP is about 30 miles south of JAX in ST. Augustine. Check ahead for availability. Lots to do and see in the area.

- magnusfideExplorer IIAn excellent park that is near but not on the ocean near Savannah GA. Close enough to do some sightseeing in Savannah.http://gastateparks.org/SkidawayIsland
Another gooder with an historic fort right on the Ogeechee River leading to the Atlantic.
