We tell people we hate Kauai. HATE IT! Go to Maui, Maui is much better. :B

Northern Arkansas has awesome scenery and something for all ages.

That was my first thought too. But he just kept going on and on about how he preferred camping near cities where there was something to see and do. Good for him. He can have my camp spot at those locations.

I agree with you. Every region has it's good points and bad points. It always makes a more pleasant trip to focus on the good points and the good people.

I'm partial to the Nashville area as well as other states where the people are friendly. Sending prayers your way for your health.

From years of reading these forums I've noticed that a request for the best attractions in a particular state will sometimes result in many good suggestions and other times very little. Rarely are there any suggestions for obscure out-of-the-way places but I've found many of these by reading blogs, mostly by fulltimers because they have the time to explore the areas that they are traveling through much more thoroughly than people who are merely on vacation.

Check some of these blogs - http://www.hitchitch.com/links.html When you find a traveler who enjoys the same type of attractions as you do see if they have links to other blogs. You'll probably enjoy "Travels with the Blonde Coyote", a blog by a boondocking writer who's also a wonderful photographer.

My map indicates the states where I've overnighted in the RV, but I've been in all except Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. Oregon and Washington are on my bucket list. But I must say that Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. Friends of mine have a summer cabin in Cooper Landing, AK. I visited them for a couple weeks a few years ago. The drive thru Alberta, BC, the Yukon, and Alaska produced constant WOWs. I did 200-300 mile driving days and often overnighted for a couple of days at a time. One hint. It is the land of the midnight sun, and never gets completely dark in the summer, so get something to cover up the skylights in the BR.
