I was taught by my parents, take only pictures leave only foot prints. I taught my children to leave a camp site cleaner than we found it.
I tell my grandkids that we take memories away and leave campsites better than when we arrive.
Last sunner my two youngest grandsons and I "policed" the entire campground, putting garbage in trash bags. The ranger saw them working, brought his trailer to load the bags into, then invited them to the ranger station/office, gave them a certificate and a Dairy Queen coupon for a free sundae. Our grandsons want to do this at every cakpground now!
I asked them why. Their reply "It looks good and we feel good for making things better for the next campers. Needless to say, we are really proud of them!
