Sturbridge MA campgrounds/overnight

We are looking for a place for one night somewhere around Sturbridge MA. I just called Wells State Park and you have to stay 2 nights prior to July 1 and at $27 for a non-resident I would hate to book 2 nights and forfeit $27 for a place with no water, electricity or dump.

I've been on RV Park Reviews and Yogi has bad ratings.

Would the rest area on the MA Pike in Charlton be an option or is there somewhere else that I am missing. We will be in a 30' Class A towing.

Ct. seems not to have anything on 84.

Thanks
Judi
  • There is a cracker barrel and a truck stop at the Sturbridge exit also a wallmart.you could also probably stay on the Charlton rest stop on the pike.
  • Massachusetts does not allow over-nighting at rest areas. Try Sunsetview https://sunsetview.com/. It's 14 miles from Sturbridge. It also has a 2 night minimum but only on weekends in July and August. You don't say when you'll be traveling. We stayed there for a night a number of years ago and like it and it still gets decent reviews. There is a WalMart in Sturbridge but they do not allow overnight parking. You will be hard-pressed in MA to find many cities/towns that allow it at stores. However, may Elks facilities do have RV parking-there may be one in the Sturbridge area that does.
  • Cracker barrel has a truck stop next door also don't think you would have any trouble on the pike in Charlton there are always RV mixed in with the trucks.
  • also don't think you would have any trouble on the pike in Charlton there are always RV mixed in with the trucks.

We see them but they could just be resting and not staying overnight. Those are for truckers, not RVers, and it's not fair to them to take their spaces when we can go elsewhere.

I agree. We are looking to get to the Sturbridge area on Thursday June 14. I guess that the Bristol Ct. CG will be the best, although the reviews are so so. Thanks for all the help and if anyone has any further thoughts please let me know.

    Hi Judi

Though I know of a few gems, for the most part so so is the norm for CT!

Thanks Mike. Made reservations today. Never knew that CG existed. Checked RV Park Reviews--got a little concerned about the noise and odor that some complained about but one night won't kill me.
