Suggestions for places near New Orleans LA.

I have gone to the 'beach' with my cousins on Lake Pontchartrain a few times. There can be surprisingly largish waves there if the wind is out of the north. (That is how Katrina flooded New Orleans, raising the level of Pontchartrain so that if overflowed into the city.)

Their preferred 'beach' was at Fontainebleau State Park on the north shore of the lake. But a much longer drive.

Now, if your objective is to experience the incredible city of New Orleans, French Quarter RV is an excellent choice.

If your objective is beaches, I suggest one of the many RV parks near the coast from Bay St Louis, MS to Apalachicola, FL

It is about 55-60 driving miles one way from French Quarter RV to Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS

It is about 110-120 driving miles one way from French Quarter RV to Grand Isle State Park in Louisiana - a much slower, more tedious drive.

Ok this actually gives me a lot of what I was looking for, for people to live there and not go to the grand isle for beach time that makes my decision a lot easier and ill just go somewhere either in or near the city and enjoy the French quarter!
