DH and I are basically touring Florida in February. So far so good with reservations! Will be in J'Ville, St Augustine, Stuart, over to FT Myers and then to Tampa/ST Pete - mostly using the RV to visit friends all over the state. Where to next? We have at least 3 more weeks to wander! Have been to Pensacola area (open to any other suggestions on the panhandle) and don't want to do Disney at this time. I am a history buff and DH goes along with almost anything. We are NOT into a lot of outdoors activities, but will walk for a purpose! Will be wandering in a 34'Class A with toad. Would like to make a 'loop' that will take us back towards home in Virginia . Thought about going up into Georgia, but not sure where to go there. Wondered about Atlanta, but many have suggested it's too congested and not worth a visit. Open to any places you may have gone along the way that you found worth a stop. Campground suggestions also welcome. Thanks in advance. Pam Hyatt

Kennedy Space Center The Keys. In Ga Savannah

If you can get in, and that's a big IF, look at Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island, not real far from Pensacola Beach, Florida. The fort is quite historic and interesting.

Definitely stay well away from Atlanta. A number of the Georgia State Parks are historic sites or are close to historic sites. Check out the Warner Robins Museum of Aviation.Here's the Georgia State Parks and Historic sites guide online.. Nearly all of the GA State Parks have RV sites. Check to be sure if you pick a park. Some don't.Here's a map of Georgia State Parks to check for those along your route.Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites MapFt. McAllister State Park just south of Savannah has historic re-enactments. You can camp there and go explore Savannah's historic district.

Well in Tampa or near it anyway is Ybor City the old cigar manufacturing town, a definite history spot. Tarpon Springs just north of Tampa is an old greek sponge fishing town, worth a visit. St Augustine of course is the oldest settlement in America and has a lot of thoroughly restored historical sites.Take a look at this interactive map of the state parks:FL State Parks map Koroshan SP down near Ft Myers is the remains of a utopian cult back in the 1800's. I haven't been there but some RV bloggers do camp hosting down there, I think he is a cook. And there is Mound Key not to far from there which is an archaeological park. Collier Seminole has an exhibit of the dredge used to cut the Tamiami Canal all the way across the state.If you work your way thru those parks you'll find many are at historical sites and/or Indian relic sites. There are several parks devoted to the Seminole Wars back in Andrew Jackson'1s days. You could spend lots of time working your way thru a set of those and easily set up a loop path. Florida has almost 200 parks now and is adding more all the time. I have given up on visiting all of them...heh.

If you do the Keys, it would probably be better to park the MH on the mainland and take the toad to Key West. I have been told there is a Casino on Krome Ave, close to Homestead that permits boondocking. Do the architecture tour of Miami Beach. I loved it.

Try the Ford/Edison museum in Ft Myers. Also, alligators in Myaka State Park east of Sarasota. Ringling Museum in Sarasota.

You can choose to live or rot waiting. I choose to live and have been to FL twice in the past year. Going to MD in the morning and biggest worry will be finding some place to eat. By the way I am the guy that took my wife and 2 year old daughter to Vietnam to work in 1967. Life goes on!

Florida is the wild wild west when it comes to people not isolating and refusing to wear masks and a governor that uses the police like his private army. My wife and I had a trip planned to Florida for April ofd 2020 but after all that has happened in the past year we will be avoiding it like the plague.

We were in Florida in December.

In Daytona, take a raceway tour.

Eat at Florida Seafood at Cocoa Beach

Get some fresh fruit or veggies at the Plant City Farmers Market

We stopped overnight at some of the roadside rests in Florida and they are nice.

Stop at the Welcome centers on your way into the state

If you are in no hurry check out Tamiami Trail, Route 41, at the south end of Florida. Halfway across is some kind of an alligator sanctuary where you get your fill of them; rather up close but safe.
