Suggestions on traveling in Wyoming

I am going to have the month of August to travel in Wyoming and northern Colorado. I am looking for suggestions on what to see and do. I am already going to spend time in Yellowstone and Grand Teton in July. I am interested in scenic roads, nature, wildlife and great campgrounds. I love the mountains fishing and mild hiking. At this point I have a blank page. I need to end up in Salida Colorado end of August.

I have a 26' travel trailer and not comfortable with boon-docking

Looking for advice

  • Tell us a bit more. What do you consider a 'great campground'? Full hookups? Activities? Or quiet, out-of-the-way forest CGs with no amenities but plenty of nature?

Most of us would define boondocking something like, dry camping in places other than campgrounds, away from crowds and civilization... preferably away from everyone! Camping in a CG with no hookups (water, electric, sewer) is what we call 'dry camping'. (Some folks will include overnight stays in store parking lots within the 'dry camping' term, too.)

Also, do you want to stay on the paved roads or are you open to (or perhaps even looking forward to) gravel roads leading to CGs or scenery?
