How about going east? Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina is nice. You have your choices of water and electric or full hookups, shade or sun. You are a short walk to the beach, they have a nice store, you can tour Atalya which was the house where the original owners lived. You are a short distance from Murrel's Inlet and some good restaurants.
Or, Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are campgrounds in the National Park and along the Parkway, but none have hookups. There are several good Federal parks close by the Parkway like Sherando Lake and Goose Point.
Or Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. We stayed at Canal Campground which is either Forest Service or COE. Choice of water and electric or full hookups. Some sites are on the water where you can watch ships and barges go by. Swimming beach.
