Summer snowbirding up North???

Is there some reason that the Pacific Northwest isn't being included as a place to spend the summer? Or New England and the Maritimes?

There is a resident owned park called Woodsmoke Ranch near Seneca ILL, about 60 miles SW of Chicago. About 1400 sites that are not age restricted but there are quite a few seniors that spend the winters south and the summers there. There are For Sale listings on their website. The annual association fee varies B/$700-1200. However that includes your ELECTRIC and water. For sale by owner are both vacant RV sites and RV sites w/ Park Models on them. They are listed on the website. There are plently of seniors for a social life. We get groups of over 50 going out to eat etc. There are families w/ kids and it is nice to be around younger people for a change.

Michigan has some very nice seasonal private campgrounds that offer some great rates and amenities.

Along Lake Michigan and the Silver Lake Dunes area is Silver Creek Resort. We stayed here for a few days 2 years ago. Very nice!

Also, in the same area is Sandy Shores Campground. Never stayed here, but the area is very popular during the summer months.

Near South Haven is Sunny Brook RV Park. I've driven past, but never stayed here. It's fairly new and they have some grand plans for development. They have monthly rates.

Further north just east of Frankfort is a new park in early stages of development. We stayed here for 3 days this past summer. Nice cement pads/patios. They offer monthly/seasonal rates in a beautiful area. It's called Frankfort Crystal Lake RV Resort.

I'm sure there are more, but these were ones I was familiar with. The summers are beautiful along Lake Michigan.

Hi Walter! I've camped all over Michigan - and can't say that I've ever seen any place that caters to the 55+ crowd? And we're "camping-crazy" here - our businest state parks fill within minutes of any given date-opening for reservations. But we have TONS of State Parks; and anything north of M-10 is considered "Up North Michigan" which is truly God's Country. I'll mention the ones our kayaking club always seems to be able to get into: One of my favorites is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore (Platte River Campground) right on Lake Michigan. Another gem (especially if you enjoy music) is Interlochen State Park, which is next door to the National Music School. Wilderness State Park at the "Tip of the Mitt" is very isolated and peaceful, with a beautiful view of the Mackinac Bridge.

If you want to experience "Michigan Wilderness" even farther - go into the U.P. Tahquamenon State Park is lovely; and so is Loon's Point RV Park in Cedarville (right on Lake Huron). Of course while you're up there, you HAVE to visit Pictured Rocks National Seashore.

Anything in the Leelenau/Traverse City area (Michigan's "pinkie") will be scenic and fun. If you want cooler temps - stay along the Lake Michigan shoreline. While our "Gold Coast" beaches are gorgeous and very tropical-looking; that lake doesn't warm up until August ;-) If you enjoy sweatshirts, head towards Lake Superior......LOL!

Memorial Day 2013 in Munising, MI there was a picture titled "At the beach" circulating of 2 pretty girls in swimsuits, sitting on an iceberg in Lake Superior :-)

If you are looking for an amazing foreign culture experience including old world architecture, interesting food and interesting places to visit, consider Quebec city Quebec. Bring an open mind and a good appetite and you will have a ball. Super part of the country. Many touristy places will have english speakers but outside of that consider learning some french to improve your experience and participate in the culture a little better.

And a few on the IL/WI border. But long term stay sites on the Illinois side fill up real fast where the weekend warriors drop their RV's to ensure they have a spot each weekend.

We don't have Snowbird resorts parse but there are a plethora of REAL nice places in Wisconsin. You will have RV'ers pulling in and out with short stays so you never are stuck with a bad camping neighbor for more than a couple of days.

Google Lake Geneva and Door County.

The last few years I have been reverse snowbirding back to Wisconsin. Cures my homesick syndrome.

It would be a bit of a trek for you, but we summer in a 50+ campground, The Bluffs (at Danforth Bay Camping Resort), Freedom NH and winter in Tennessee. We used to live in New England and still have family there, so it serves the purpose for us. They open mid-April and usually shut the water off about the third week in October. The lower campground is open to any age but The Bluffs is 50+.
