Be sure to stop in at the new Dewey Short Visitor Center (well, it is a year old now )next to the state park. It is run by the Army Corp and the Ozark River Heritage Foundation. They have a beautiful observation deck, great film to view, hands on activities, and a great gift shop. There is a nice walking/biking trail and benches to view the lake. There is no charge. They also offer tours of the dam four times a day. There is a charge for the tours. At times, they offer children's programs and other educational programs. We workcamped there last year and will be back again this year in Sept. and Oct. Great place! Be sure to tell them that the couple from Ky. said hello!!
