Just got back from one of my favourites...Rocky Mountain National Park's Glacier Basin, and specifically D loop there. Out in the open with a splendid view of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker.
Another is the Pawnee Campground at Brainard Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness near Ward CO. The hikes and views there are what being in Colorado is all about.
And one final place...Sugarloaf CG in Wyoming, west of Centennial. It's near the top of Snowy Range Pass at over 10000 feet with views that rival those in Colorado with far fewer tourists.
