I learned something new lately - imagine that......
I had one of the new high efficiency furnaces installed lately for new radiant floor heating. However, I was reading on some of the new forced air high efficiency furnaces. There was a warning in the literature about not turning down the temperature to below 60 or 65 degrees (I forget which). The reason for the warning is that with all of the efficiency and electronic controls, the furnace will not function correctly with air returning at less than those temperatures.
So if you have a new high efficiency furnace, I'd read the manual carefully and / or call the installer and ask them before turning the house temps down too low while gone.
