BTW, we try to time passing through Las Cruces at mealtime so we can eat at La Nueva Casita.
Never have eaten there, been by it a few times, we normally eat at a place on Mesquite just south of it, closer to Amador. Or we eat at Nopalitos' branch restaurant near our home on Missouri.

Food looks good from the La Nueva Casita Cafe Site.

I could almost taste that green chile stew -- it has been too long since I was in New Mexico.
It was their green chile con carne & whole beans. I really like their food. Used to get their green chile con carne plate which come with refried beans, rice & a little salad as well as some cheese. They will substitute whole beans. But I'm on a very restricted diet now, so this last time as asked for so much to be left off, the waiter told me I could get a pint of chile con carne & a small cup of beans without all the rest. It will be what I order from now one. Chile con carne is basically green chile pork stew. Can't beat New Mexican style Mexican food.
