Tetons any one?

Don't miss the Bar J Wranglers in Wilson just a couple of miles West of Jackson. It's Cowboy dinner and entertainment in the evening. You will need reservations as it sells out every night.

We stayed in Idaho on the west side of the mountain. There is a really nice campground in Victor that everyone goes to and is about 16 or 18 miles from Jackson Hole. Another one was in Tetonia which is 12 or 14 miles further away and we liked the prices better there. Everyone was real nice, but nobody is ever in a hurry.

If you are planning on motorcycling to see Grand Teton and Yellowstone, probably the best place to stay would be Colter Bay campground, dry camping. You are in the middle of Grand Teton and about 45 miles out of Yellowstone's south entrance. Beautiful ride from Colter Bay to the south entrance and then to the loops, south and north. As stated above, Colter Bay has a pretty good general store, clothing store and laundry and shower store. Two "restaurants" the Colter Grill and one other. Then, just down the road toward Yellowstone is Leeks Pizza where you can get pizza and beer, got out on the deck and look out over Jackson Lake and view Mt. Moran and the rest of the Tetons. I didn't mind Gros Ventre when we stayed there two years ago, but it's a pretty good trip from there to Jackson Lake/Colter Bay and then up to Yellowstone. Gros Ventre is much closer to Jackson, but I don't believe most people go to Grand Teton and Yellowstone so they can go to Jackson, which is probably one of the biggest tourist traps in the whole world and a total traffic jam during the summer.

Well they do have to truck in everything to a National Park, and that costs someone to use a lot of fuel, so they do have to charge more. And most National Parks charge the store rent - usually an outrageous amount too!

Have you heard of Flagg Ranch? it is between Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. It is a nice full hookup park, but a bit crowded for my liking, as I usually dry camp. 2 miles to the west are several dry camping areas. Pick one, and enjoy the view of the Snake River (or creek, as it is only a few feet wide at this point near it's start).

That's a big area to cover. Where would we start to suggest? What price are you looking for? Full hookups? Partial hookups? Do you want Wyoming or Idaho? You might want to pick a town and use this site to zero in on some private RV parks:

If you want to go cheaper you can try the Atherton Creek Forest Service campground on Slide Lake about 5 miles east of the little town of Kelly. No hookups and their bathrooms are likely pit toilets. The camp host sells firewood.

About 5 miles further out on the same road, which becomes gravel after Atherton Creek, is the Crystal Creek Forest Service campground. Definitely a one hole pit toilet there.

We stayed at Colter Bay RV park with our toy hauler and motorcycles last fall. We wanted full hookups since we had done 17 nights of no hookup camping. If I would do it again we would stay at Gros Ventre campground. It is much closer to Jackson Hole and much less expensive. We rode out to Crystal Creek on the bikes and it is a very rough road.
