Texas State Parks
Iam on the road....stayed in a Texas State park in N Texas.....It was fairly run down and unkept compared to fed parks.....but the real kicker was the cost......$5.00 /each/per day entrance plus $16....

Agree! OP can stay with KOAs near the freeways, railroads, and airports. It'll make the State Parks that much quieter. Our stae park pass was paid for in one trip.
In other news, Davis Mountains SP is closed through March because they're adding full hookup sites and doing major renovations. Don't tell anybody, though. Shhhhhhh!
