Thanksgiving Week

If you were going to the panhandle of Florida for the week of Thanksgiving, where would you go camping? DW and I are thinking of going camping during this time period, any help would be appreciated.
  • Topsail Hill SP, Santa Rosa Beach
Grayton Beach SP, Santa Rosa Beach
    Henderson SP, Destin
  • depends on what environment you're looking for. Beach, those listed by sch911. Quieter location but still close enough to drive to beach: Freeport, FL we like Live Oak Landing. If you want more woodsy, Florida Caverns State Park at Marianna.
  • We spent 10 days at Henderson Beach State Park and really enjoyed it. If you can live with water and electric only.
  • Any of the Florida panhandle state parks will be lovely that time of year. Some of them have FHU loops available. They will also be very busy, reservations are a must.
  • We love Top Sail, St. George Island or St. Joseph Peninsula. We particularly love Top Sail because it has full hook up, cable and a paved bike trail outside which can be rode for quite a ways, especially to Seaside which is really neat with food trucks, shops and dining. Additionally, it is also not far from Pier Park (I think that is the name) which is very nice complex with restaurants, shopping and kids activities.

St. George Island and St. Josesph Peninsula are much more secluded and laid if that is the type of atmosphere you're looking for.

We stayed at St. George Island last year for Thanksgiving. It was beautiful but in hind site would have preferred Top Sail.
  • In addition to those already mentioned: Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island in the National Seashore and St. Andrews State Park near Panama City.
  • We will be at Ocklockonee River State Park near Sopchoppy, just like last year and the year before that. lizzie
