Pavement isn't boondocking!
As a serious boondocker, I have dragged my TT into some unbelievable places. Off road completely, down narrow goat trails where I have had to prune back branches to get in. Places where i have literally had to walk ahead to see if I can make it.
I have torn things off, scratched my paint, bonked things sticking out and so on.
I have had spots where I have had to lay down boards under my TT wheels to get up over rugged trails without ripping my dump plumbing off.
Last TT I had I tore both skid bars right off getting into a desolate lake to boondock. I don't try to do this stuff but sometimes when you are past the point of no return.....
Yeah I don't want to damage my unit, but I bought it to use and enjoy!
The pleasure of it all is sitting in the weeds beside a lake and there is not another soul in sight. Nobody else is stupid... oops I mean brave enough to drag their RV into something like that!!
That is my idea of boondocking! Anyone can pull into a paved site with no hookups. That ain't boondocking! Sorry! It just isn't!!
I have driven miles down a dead end range roads in northern Alberta to find that perfect place in the trees, away from all traffic, all civilization, all people.
Spooky? nope! Not at all, especially laying awake into the night with a grin, just listening to the crickets and the coyotes!! I have had bears wander by to find a meal, I've had deer, coyotes, moose, elk and a lot of other things wander into my presence to check things out. Just have to be careful. I burn all food scraps, or bury them well away from the TT. They can smell it, let them dig it up a hundred yards away!
Thats what I call boondocking! :B
