zman, OP here, and I'm confused -- I read that thread a long time ago, and my dim recollection is that we agreed that it means different things to different people, and in different contexts. Sometimes, it means overnighting at a rest stop. Other times, it means being hub-deep in mud or dust or snow, way back in the middle of nowhere. When I wrote that boondocking had unfortunately spoiled me so that I could no longer really enjoy a very nice campground, I was referring to the back-country kind.
