I would suggest, if you are in the NE area, do the Pilgrim thing! Plymouth Village and the ship Mayflower II in Massachusetts is great to visit. Note about Plymouth Rock: it is, literally, just a rock - so ask a nearby Park Ranger for info about it. They have a really good 15ish minute historical talk about it!
Don't forget about Burial Hill!! Arguably the coolest thing in Plymouth!
"Burial Hill"? We may have missed that! Is that the spot in Plimouth (the way it is officially spelled) Village where the fort/meeting building is located?
I don't remember the road exactly, but when you are down by the water close to the rock there is a road that goes straight up a hill with all of the original houses on either side and it dead ends at a church. Behind that church is Burial Hill. It dates back to the 1620s and people from the Mayflower are buried there. There are some really neat old gravestones in there, and it's a nice walk. Some of the trees in there are massive.
