If staying at Pohick Bay, plan on getting an early start on days you're driving to METRO to go into DC; the parking lots at some stations can fill up fairly early with commuters. Pohick Bay is nice, but it doesn't have a bus stop at the door, like Cherry Hill.
Not to push Cherry Hill but not only does it have a bus stop but several times a day that bus is an express directly to the Metro station with no other stops. They also have a kiosk that sells Metro passes and other tickets.
