I pretty much agree with your observations. I know that health issues have slowed me down over the last couple of years. Back surgery in 2012 and a neck surgery this November has delayed my departure until mid February to Arizona. We're probably on the tail end of the snowbird boom. Everything seems to have cycles. While I have not seen a lot of open spaces in the park I winter at, it may well be coming. At 71 I hopefully have a few more years of snowbird, but that could change at any time. The industry as a whole is evolving. FMCA and other organizations are losing members faster that new ones come on board. My brother (age 68) and his spouse have suffered major medical setbacks and have sold their motorhome after a 20 year run. Do to economic circumstances I don't see my kids doing what I'm doing.
