- dodgboyExplorerStayed at Oregon dunes campground 2 years ago. Our gas cans were stolen. The ranger said locals always stole gas cans then use the gas and throw the cans in the bushes. He actually found one of our empty cans and returned it to us. Everyone at the camp had this happen.
- OaklevelExplorer30 plus years of camping nothing taken, don't lock much up, chairs, grill, games left outside ........ Often don't lock our doors, would rather someone let the security staff out if there were a fire etc. :)
- UppercrustExplorerWe keep the camper door locked when not around it. Otherwise never had a problem at all.
- Houston_RemodelExplorerWe solved this problem by only taking crappy stuff with us. If anyone steals anything, it's no loss.
And we're heavily insured. - bgumExplorerSaw on this site a couple of weeks ago where two IPads stolen from bed.
- fla-gypsyExplorerNever encountered any problems
- gclossExplorerBeen camping for 34 years and never had anything stolen, but then again we don't leave anything of value out in plain sight. We lock the TT up when going to pool or rec center.
Most if not all RV owners will look out for each other, but at times it's their guests that have concerned me. Any issues I've seen in campgrounds are from guests and not RV owners themselves. - RGar974417ExplorerI've been camping over 50 years and have had things stolen twice. The first time we were tent camping and we had food stolen from our cooler. The second time it was some chairs. I would say lock everything you can to be safe.
- Jayco-noslideExplorerIn 44 years of camping across the country we've only had 1 incidence and that was during a festival with lot's of people who do not camp regularly.
