Visit the Red Earth Museum in the Kirkpatrick Center - there are many, many other attractions there. There is almost always something going on at the State Fair grounds - horse show, farm show, home living show, swap meet, whatever.
There will also be Native American powwows somewhere every weekend. Check newspapers for locations. The Red Earth Festival is in early June. There are usually about 250 artists set up from all over the US, some from Canada and even one from S. America. I did the show for several years, but haven't been there in awhile. In addition to the art competition, there will dance competition as well. The sight of a 1000 Native Americans dressed in full regalia all dancing at the same time in the arena is a sight to remember.
Don't let my Comanche cousins know you are a Grizzly fan or you may not make it back to Memphis with your hair. ;-)
