- Kentucky_JoeExplorerThanks everyone. We are hoping to go after Father's day if we can still get reservations.
- camperrickExplorerWe visited the Thousand Islands last summer and camped at Wellesley Island State Park. The park was very well maintained and very clean. Had electrical hook-up. We thought the scenery was beautiful. Enjoyed several casual walks through the woods and along the river. The beach looked nice although we didn't swim. The new camp store/snack bar/playground was quite nice, and we enjoyed the ice cream!
We didn't leave the campground during our stay there, so I can't comment on visiting the local towns or taking boat rides, but have heard people say that they have enjoyed doing those things.
It's not on your itinerary to visit the south shore of Lake Ontario, but we camped there at two different New York State Parks and enjoyed some of the most beautiful campsites we have ever camped at in our 50 years of camping. I look forward to revisiting those parks. They were Hamlin Beach State Park and Lakeside Beach State Park. We camped at Wellesley Island first and then drove to Lakeside Beach for four days or so. Then drove down the rode just a few miles and camped at Hamlin Beach before returning to PA. Maybe you could do the Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, and Thousand Islands all in one trip. That would be a win-win-win! Good luck.
