We are in a TT CG for a couple of weeks. We did our research to see if full hookups were available. Their online site map doesn't show FHU locations. The office person we spoke to in advance said one section of about 50 sites all had FHU and that there are about 13 elsewhere.Well, it turns out that there are only 13 FHU sites in the entire CG of 262 sites and none are available with sewer hookup as they are ALL taken already. Fortunately we have a tote tank with us. We are new members this year and wanted to try them out. There website does not mention any memberships options beyond regular membership but when you sign in, they give you a sheet for their elite membership upgrade which includes extended stays and other perks. So what I am guessing is that the elite members are able to snag the FHU sites first so basically FHU sites are not available to regular members here? We feel somewhat mislead. This is the 6th TT CG we've been to and 2 others were the same thing. Is this common with TT or just the way it happens to be in Wa.?Their CGs are otherwise quite nice, often being in a well-forested setting with decent spacing between sites.

There has been postings in the past that leads me to believe the east coast has more problems than west. Maybe we're just lucky?But don't get the idea we are in love with them. We're not exactly happy with them for other reasons.

We do plan on hitting all the TT campgrounds or at least most of them in the next two years. That would be the West coast TT sites we are planning on going hitting in the next two years. We are not full timers yet.

Membership status has no bearing on who gets a fhu site. Most TT cg's are first come. Just drive around to find a site you like. It may or may not be a fhu site. Some CG's will use the "lottery system". You sign up, then wait for a fhu site. These are filled by in order you register. A lot of the TT resorts do not have fhu at all sites. This is true at TT resorts all across the US, not just the west coast.The general listing that TT gives for their resorts does not list all the fhu sites. I sometimes use the RPI site to check if and how many sites are fhu. I look at the campground map when making plans. It will generally show fhu sites. Also 30 and 50 amp sites.

We have stayed at a few NACO/TT campgrounds using our RPI affiliate membership and never had an issue.But that was several years ago. Things change!?

We have been to almost all the TT campgrounds in the past 18 years, the only ones as I remember that we didn't have FHU was Bend and Morgan Hill. Most on the East coast, aka Hershey, Orlando are all FHU except the tent sites. That said, since ELS bought TT out, they have really pushed annual and seasonal sites and the best are being taken by those people. In Orlando you used to get a number on arrival and you could choose a site, now with the ride around system it is very difficult for a big rig to find a site. Even the 3 month people are complaining as they get bumped off a site for someone buying an annual. Still the best deal around, where else can you camp for 10 to 15 a night.

If we wanted a full hook up site and there were none available at the time we checked in I would wander over to the sites we liked and talked with the people on them. I would ask when they wee leaving and if I was out in the road with my rig when they planned on pulling out if I could have that site. Never got turned down.

I am at my 4th TT campground since Apr and all have been FHU but the one I am at now doesn't have satalite because of trees..

Nowadays the best sites at Thousand Trails campgrounds seem to be leased out. Since ELS bought them out the new standard at the parks is leaning more towards full time leasing. It looks like ELS is doing their best to eliminate the old Thousand Trails.

We've been using our membership roughly 100-130 days a year since joining a few years ago. Only at Ponderosa did we not have a full hook-up site so far but that was because we wanted to grab one of the River view sites...still stayed two weeks with just one pump out. Headed to Oregon this year for a couple of months to check out the Park's up that way...

We have been TT members for over 34 years and only used sewer sites maybe 5 times. Most sewer sites that we have been to are packed in with other campers and we like privacy. No big deal to dump on the way out. We have been to all TT on West Coast and most do not have many sewer sites. All have some but nearly always taken. Usually get on a list and check in the Guard Shack at 8 or 9 AM the next morning to see if there is anything open. You cannot reserve a sewered site before arriving I don't think. But TT has really changed over the years and not for the better. But it is still better than most places out there
